NX Series

The NXP i.MX 8M Plus is an application processor designed for industrial and edge AI environments. It integrates a quad-core Arm Cortex-A53 CPU operating at up to 1.8 GHz, together with a Cortex-M7 core dedicated to real-time control, within a single SoC architecture.
This heterogeneous design enables the processor to handle high-performance application processing and real-time control simultaneously, making it well suited for complex workload environments such as medical devices, industrial HMI systems, and smart kiosks.
In addition, the i.MX 8M Plus integrates a wide range of interfaces required for industrial systems, including high-speed memory interfaces (LPDDR4/DDR4), PCIe Gen3, USB 3.0, and dual Gigabit Ethernet with TSN support, all within a single chip. This high level of integration significantly reduces overall system complexity while improving reliability and scalability for industrial and embedded applications.

A key differentiating feature of the i.MX 8M Plus is its integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), delivering up to 2.3 TOPS of AI inference performance. This NPU is specifically designed to process deep learning inference tasks—such as image recognition, object detection, and human pose and emotion recognition—efficiently at the edge, without placing additional load on the CPU or GPU.
By enabling local AI inference, the i.MX 8M Plus reduces dependence on cloud-based processing, minimises latency, and enhances data privacy, making it particularly suitable for applications such as medical image analysis, intelligent surveillance systems, and industrial machine vision.
In environments where real-time processing is critical—especially in medical and industrial applications—the integrated NPU provides stable, deterministic, and predictable AI performance, supporting reliable system operation and consistent results.
